La última vez que fui a la Guelaguetza fue hace 13 años. No sé por qué deje pasar tanto tiempo, así que esta vez que cumplió 80 años no quería perdérmela.
La
Guelaguetza, es una fiesta cultural también conocida como Lunes del
Cerro, precisamente por realizarse en lo alto del Fortín en la ciudad de
Oaxaca. Participan delegaciones de las 8
regiones étnicas del Estado: Costa Chica, Cañada, Papaloapan, Mixteca,
Sierra
Sur, Sierra Norte, Valles Centrales y el Istmo de Tehuantepec, que a
través de bailes, ceremonias y tradiciones muestran los usos y
costumbres de las distintas poblaciones.
Lo
importante de esta fiesta es que se convierte en un acto de compartir,
los danzantes muestran orgullosamente sus bailes y tradiciones. Y es que la palabra zapoteca "Guelaguetza"
significa ofrendar, compartir o regalar. Muestra de ello es que los
grupos al final de sus bailes avientan presentes al público. Yo, además
de las múltiples imágenes que me regalaron para captar con mi cámara,
recibí un tamal, manzanas y una piña de las tuxtepecanas tras su emocionante baile
de Flor de Piña.
Este acto de compartir comienza días previos en el que se realizan diferentes
desfiles de las delegaciones donde podemos disfrutar de su alegre música
y bellos trajes típicos.

I took me 13 years to attend again "La Guelaguetza", I'm not sure why it took me too long but I knew for sure that I didn't want to miss it this year on its 80th anniversary.
Guelaguetza or Los lunes del cerro (Mondays on the Hill) is an annual indigenous cultural event that takes place in Oaxaca México.
The word Guelaguetza comes from the Zapotec language and is usually interpreted as the "reciprocal exchanges of gifts and services". At the end of each dance when they throw different kind of products to the public like small fruit, hats, and even coconuts and pineapples.
This event is preceded by colorful parades along the streets of Oaxaca where you can also enjoy their music and traditions.
I want to share with you this first part of the pictures that I took during this festivities from this land well known for its music, folklore and diversity.
